The demand for nurses is projected only to increase over the next decade, and the Cochise College Nursing Program offers expert instruction, modern learning laboratories and a wide variety of clinical experience in hospitals and health care agencies.
What to Expect:
- Theory and practical skills
- Hands-on experience through a combination of lectures, labs, and clinical assignments.
- Lectures are held on at the Downtown Center and labs are conducted on the Douglas, Sierra Vista, and Benson campuses.
- Students are scheduled for clinical experiences in hospitals and health agencies throughout Cochise and Pima counties. Students must provide their own transportation to lectures, labs, and clinical.
All pre-nursing students are highly encouraged to attend an advising meeting prior to beginning the program. Register using the Pre-Nursing Advising Online Registration (Google Form)
Apply to the Nursing Program
Cochise College’s nursing program is a competitive entry program. An acceptable score on TEAS Entrance Exam is required. Applications to the nursing program must be postmarked by the posted spring deadline. Students must obtain a fingerprint clearance card. Information about this can be found at www.azdps.gov (website). NCLEX must be passed after completion of courses in order to become a registered nurse.
All Pre-Nursing Students are encouraged to attend a Pre-Nursing advising meeting. Meetings are scheduled throughout the coming year.

Placement testing is required for English, Math, and Reading. Tests can be scheduled by visiting the college’s testing webpage.
You must take the TEAS Entrance Exam (the TEAS cannot be taken more than twice per year, from May 1-April 30) the score you receive is valid for use for two years (the current school year and the following school year). The Cochise College Nursing Department reserves the right to require a minimum entrance score for admission to the nursing program.
When you are ready to send in your application, you must send the TEAS exam you wish to submit for consideration with your application.
You must receive a 66.1 or higher on your TEAS exam to be considered for the Cochise College Nursing Program.
Send your Nursing Application (form A) with Waiver of Licensure (form B), a copy of AZDPS Finger Print Clearance Card, official transcripts from other colleges that have not already been submitted to Cochise College and a copy of the entrance exam required for the program you are applying.
Official transcripts (from other colleges, must be received by our transcript department by May 31st). Please email unofficial transcripts for spring classes that are finishing in the middle of May to reillym@cochise.edu.
Fingerprint clearance cards can be obtained through the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Apply at azdps.gov (website) click on the fingerprint image).
If you haven’t attended Cochise College in over a year, you must re-apply to Cochise College by visiting the admissions page.

*All prerequisite courses must be completed before or during the semester the student takes the TEAS Entrance Exam.
ENG 101 is a prerequisite to PSY 240, NUR 122, and NUR 203.
Completion of MAT 081 or higher or placement into MAT 091 or higher is a prerequisite for NUR121A.
BIO 156, or BIO 181, or acceptable score on BIO 201 Waiver Test is a prerequisite for BIO 201.
BIO 201, BIO 202, BIO 205, MAT 142 & all NUR courses must have B or higher grades.
Science courses must be <= 7 years old with a grade of a B or better. Recommend taking BIO courses before NUR 203. NUR 203 must be <= 5 years old with a grade of a B or better.
Cochise College Policy 3004.1 allows students the opportunity to waive a prerequisite course. Students seeking a prerequisite waiver should consult with an academic advisor and should understand full responsibility for the outcome of the course taken will be on the student. Pre-nursing students may not waive core nursing or core education courses.
