    **Description**

    Highly skilled workers in the instrumentation/electrical craft who perform at or above a CCST/EPRI level II or equivalent. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the removal, repair, installation, troubleshooting, & diagnosis of process instrumentation & electrical systems. Employee may mentor or train other instrumentation/electrical employees. Employee will work under minimal supervision where the primary objective is safe production.

    + Removal, repair, installation, troubleshooting and diagnosis of process instrumentation and electrical systems for process optimization. May mentor or train other technicians and electrical workers.

    + Safe completion of routine and non-routine calibrations and repairs.

    + Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of pneumatic instruments, control valves, pressure, flow, level, temperature, weigh scales and analytical instrumentation.

    + Must have strong knowledge in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers, transmitter and control valve setup and diagnosis, electrical testing and loop checking.

    + Ability to perform installations and renovations compliant with regulatory agency standards.

    + Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and work area instructions, participates in safety and environmental activities, uses plant and equipment correctly at all times.

    **Qualifications**

    **Minimum Requirements:**

    + Completion of an approved certified program for instrumentation/control system, electronics, & electrical; **OR**

    + Minimum of four (4) years experience in industrial instrumentation/electrical repair and maintenance; **OR**

    + Associates degree or Trade School Certification in the related field **and** two (2) years experience performing maintenance and repair of industrial automation, instrumentation, and electrical systems

    + Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

    The Electrician will work with the Director of Plant Operations, Facility Manager, and the Maintenance Team to maintain the low-voltage systems: fire alarm system, nurse call, BAS controls, and tube system.     Summary This position is located in Grand Canyon National Park, in the Facility Management Division. Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment. Responsibilities Major Duties: Determine the proper and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems equipment and controls. Plan and lay out the routing, placement, type and size of wire. Perform all preventative maintenance, operational checks, repair, layout, installation, troubleshooting, tracing, modification on all new and existing electrical systems park wide, electrical generators and fire suppression systems park wide. Apply the National Electric Code (NEC) to projects in order to select the correct materials and methods for an installation or repair. Install, maintains and repairs electric motors, pumps, control wiring, relays and starters, particularly those units required for sewer treatment plant operation, water systems, and HVAC. Area Information: This position is stationed at Grand Canyon National Park at the South Rim located in Northern Arizona. The South Rim is located approximately 60 miles north of Williams and 82 miles Northwest of Flagstaff at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Temperatures range from approximately 90 degrees in the summer to 0 degrees in the winter. Annual precipitation averages around 13 inches. Grand Canyon Village has schools K-12, a daycare center, post office, general store, churches, a recreation center with gym, a public library, a clinic with resident physicians, and several restaurants. The park community consists of some 2,500 people, including employees of the NPS and concessionaires and their family members. There are often employment opportunities for family members in the park and surrounding areas. The park community is small enough that many employees choose to walk or bike from their homes to work. Complete shopping, educational, medical and professional services are available in Williams and Flagstaff. Flagstaff has a population of about 66,000 and has multiple K-12 public and private schools, Northern Arizona University, and diverse community, medical and other support services. Recreational opportunities include hiking, backpacking, fishing, cross-country and downhill skiing, and golfing in nearby communities. South Rim Housing: Permanent and Term employees with a Full Performance Level (FPL) of a GS-09 or WG-8 and above will be provided the option of accepting assigned housing, participating in the normal bid system, or accepting shared housing. Permanent and Term employees with an FPL of GS-08 or WG-7 and below may be provided the option of participating in the normal bid system or accepting shared housing. Any employee assigned to shared housing may continue to bid into non-shared housing. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship required. Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period. You may be required to travel overnight away from home. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. Examples of qualifying experience include: (1) Installing, maintaining, and/or repairing electrical equipment; (2) applying the National Electric Code (NEC) to projects to select the correct materials and methods for an installation or repair; (3) bending and/or installing Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT, rigid, flex and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) conduits for installation of electrical systems; (4) utilizing mathematical formulas basic to the electrician trade to determine voltage and resistance. Physical Demands: The incumbent makes installations from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms where frequently parts of the systems are in cramped places. This requires standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and cramped positions. Frequently lifts and carries up to 50 pounds arid occasionally over 50 pounds. This work includes, but is not limited to installing or replacing: deep cycle batteries for solar systems; generators in remote areas using hoists and bars; boiler components in basements; motors and fan coil components in lofts and attics and aerators and other large equipment from sewage treatment ponds and facilities. The incumbent will be required to work in cramped areas such as attics, crawl spaces and ventilation shafts which require crawling to install, troubleshoot or repair electrical components. The incumbent may be exposed to electrical shock, spark and arc hazard and health hazards in sewer treatment plants. Working Conditions: The incumbent works outside in all types of weather; often works inside in dusty, dirty arid occasionally greasy locations where there is a possibility of cuts and bruises. Documentation for the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) eligibility, submission of ALL SF-50s and performance information for each period of temporary/term employment that qualifies for LMWFA. Performance documentation can be obtained by contacting the supervisors for the positions you served in during your 24 months. If they did not complete performance appraisals ask them to provide a statement of performance for each period of service. The statement must specify the dates for each employment period and your level of performance (dates should match the dates on the SF-50s).
