Job Summary

Performs skilled painting jobs on furniture, buildings, equipment and other areas within and/or around the hotel property.

Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Typically requires a high school diploma and 0 to 5 years of experience.

+ Performs work under direct supervision.

+ Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

+ Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.

+ Oral and written communication skills.

+ Ability to understand and follow directions.

+ Manual dexterity.

+ Ability to lift/move heavy objects.

+ Physical stamina.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Cleans and maintains brushes and other tools utilized after every painting job.

+ Effectively mixes and matches various types of paint.

+ Demonstrates appropriate usage of paint brushes thinner and other tools and equipment.

+ Inspects the walls and deciding upon the number of paint coats that will be required.

+ Maintains quality and standards of work.

+ Applies paint stain varnish enamel and other finishes to equipment buildings and/or other structures using brushes spray guns or rollers.

+ Applies primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces such as bare wood or metal for finish coats.

+ Mixes and matches colors of paint stain or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colors and consistencies.

+ Fills nail holes joints and cracks in walls with plaster or other filler.

+ Covers surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and removes fixtures such as pictures door knobs lamps and electric switch covers prior to painting.

+ Calculates amounts of required materials and estimate costs based on surface measurements and/or work orders.

+ Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

+ Requisitions new painting supplies and equipment.
