Job Description
This position will serve as the NAU site coordinator for the NSF-funded Southern Nevada/Northern Arizona - Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (SNNA-LSAMP). The overarching objective of the SNNA-LSAMP is to increase the number of underrepresented students pursuing careers in STEM fields. Responsibilities of the site coordinator include organizing and implementing outreach activities, orchestrating the delivery of Discord-based tutoring, coordinating activities related to undergraduate research and ensuring all LSAMP UG researchers produce a poster, managing the Post-Baccalaureate Transition Success Program (PBTSP), recruiting and supervising near-peer mentors for Transfer Transition Success Program (TTSP), Connecting TTSP, PBTSP, and other STEM URM undergraduates with opportunities such as job shadowing and internships, providing at least two articles per quarter for the SNNA-LSAMP Newsletter, and proving new content for the SNNA-LSAMP website at least twice each year. Responsibilities also include collecting data and maintaining records associated with the implementation of SNNA-LSAMP activities, and assisting with the collection of data needed for performance reporting and evaluation purposes. The position will supervise undergraduate students who serve as near-peer mentors and Discord tutors.
Program Coordination - 50%
• Coordinates with LSAMP Alliance partners on a weekly basis to provide updates on how programs are progressing towards goals.
• Coordinates with relevant colleges (e.g., CEFNS and SCE) and offices (e.g., OURCA, IMQ, CNAIF) to organize outreach campaigns, advertise relative.
• Coordinates with non-IHE affiliate partners for campus presentations, panels, and lab/facility tours.
• Coordinates weekly meetings with LSAMP affiliates at UNLV, CSN, and CCC.
• Coordinates bi-weekly meetings with NAU LSAMP Site Director to provide high level program updates.
• Coordinates annual LSAMP Alliance conference (held at NAU in Spring 2025 and 2027) including coordinating student travel to attend LSAMP Alliance conference in Las Vegas.
• Serves as main point of contact for program participation.
• Sending program update emails to affiliate partners and partner institutions.
Advertising/Student Recruitment - 25%
• Outreach emails, phone calls, and classroom presentations.
• Preparation of materials (e.g., flyers and social media posts).
• Managing LSAMP Discord Server.
• Screen applicants for eligibility for LSAMP programs.
• Admit students into LSAMP programs.
• Meet with students individually as part of the Post-baccalaureate transition to success program to help discern long-term academic goals.
Hiring/Training/Supervising Discord Tutors and Peer Mentors - 10%
• Works with Academic Success Center to recruit and train tutors.
• Sets tutor schedules on a per semester basis.
• Approves hours.
• Meet with tutors bi-weekly in groups to understand any challenges or trends.
• Meet with peer mentors as a group or individually as needed to understand any challenges and provide ongoing support and input about peer mentorship progress.
Data Collection and Reporting - 10%
• Maintaining records of students accessing LSAMP resources and funding.
• Maintaining records of program performance.
• Coordinate with external LSAMP evaluators.
• Twice annual data reporting to LSAMP Alliance lead institution.
Other - 5%
• Other duties as necessary to support LSAMP Program objectives.
Work Environment
• Working indoors in an office environment. Occasional travel necessary to support program events as well as occasional weekend and evening time needed to support program events.
Minimum Qualifications
• This position requires a Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree.
• Strong familiarity with best practices in student recruitment, advising, and retention of underrepresented students in STEM fields.
• Strong time management and organizational skills; supervisory skills, especially with undergraduate student workers; ability to produce well-written content for newsletters and website.
• Ability to effectively prioritize completion of tasks.
• Experience with Discord, Instagram, and LinkedIn platforms.
• Familiarity with using social media to promote programming and recruit students into programs.
• Experience using OnBase, Salesforce, and Enterprise Reporting.
• At least 2 years of experience working with diverse students in Higher Education, and 1 year of supervisory experience working in Higher Education, or equivalent
• In addition, the position requires the ability to use Microsoft Office productivity software and Google G-suite applications proficiently.

Salary
Anticipated salary range is $51,085 - $63,856. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
