Job Description
Come join our team of more than 70 full-time, part-time, and student staff representing five continents and 16 native languages! Be a part of an internationally recognized Education Abroad Office. The Center for International Education at Northern Arizona University (NAU) has received the Paul Simon Award, and the Education Abroad unit within CIE has received the Heiskill Award. Additionally, NAU is ranked in IIE's Open Doors within the top 20 US institutions for year long study abroad programs. Our office has over 300 programs in more than 50 countries. We send students abroad for the year, semester, summer, and winter or spring break and offer students opportunities through exchange, provider, intern, and faculty-led programs based on their academic, financial, and personal needs. At NAU you will be able to work with a diverse group of students and partners. Our student body is nearly one-quarter Hispanic with a higher than average Native American population as well.
The Education Abroad Advisor, Senior will have responsibility for programs in their assigned region but will need to be flexible and is expected to accommodate changes in their region based on departmental needs. National Student Exchange, including Canada may also be part of the advisor's portfolio.

Job Functions & Duties
Promotion of Education Abroad - 30%
• Implement Education Abroad marketing plan.
• Assist with social media for NAU Education Abroad.
• Lead classroom presentations.
• Attend Study Abroad events across campus and the state.
• Material creation for promotion.
• Manage Education Abroad office email.
Education Abroad Advising - 20%
• Advises students short term area programs of study (primarily summer, spring break, or winter programs).
• Advises for NAU led and specialty programming.
• Advises students on academic credit, grade transfer processes and other academic policies as they relate to NAU in general and the student's program of study.
• Advises students on program costs, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, financial planning for study abroad, and any other logistical aspects related to the program, including housing, among many others.
• Advises students, faculty, staff, and parents on NAU's administrative policies, procedures and opportunities for study abroad.
• Advises faculty and academic advisors on academic policies of host institutions and of NAU's policies for transfer of courses earned abroad.
Education Abroad Territory Management - 20%
• Manages an assigned territory of programs abroad - Specialty and NAU led programming.
• Communicates with partners and host institutions regarding NAU's policies and program management issues.
• Maintains program information up-to-date, including admission applications, housing applications, and any other relevant information.
• Manages the credit and grade transfer processes for assigned programs, including communication with the Office of the Registrar and the Financial Aid Office, until grades are posted.
• Conducts periodic program site visits and assessment as necessary.
On and off Campus Partner Leadership - 20%
• Partner management with the following entities:
• CCC
• Statewide campuses
• High School promotion
• Other areas as assigned
Administrative - 5%
• Provide administrative support to CIE's Education Abroad.
• May supervise or coordinate the activities of assigned subordinates.
Other - 5%
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in related field
• Three years relevant experience
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience living and/or studying abroad for three months or more
• Academic Advising experience
• Supervisory experience (of student, permanent, and/or contracted staff)
• Fluency in a language other than English that is spoken in at least one target market
• Familiarity with US student visa regulations and application requirements
• Demonstrated experience working with students and other partner representatives on issues related to academic advising, academic issues and cultural adjustment
• Demonstrated experience in marketing
• Demonstrated experience engaging with diverse and global student and partner populations - a high degree of sensitivity to a wide variety of cultural norms is required
• Familiarity with remote learning modalities, learning management systems, and information/CRM systems such as Salesforce and Peoplesoft

Background Information
Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an https://in.nau.edu/police-department/annual-security-and-fire-safety-reports/. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. Salary
Anticipated salary range is $49,000 - $54,000. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.
