Special Information

• Employees of Facility Services are considered essential staff and must report to work when the university is closed for emergencies. This position is required to participate is on-call, call back duties and snow removal, which can include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Under established circumstances will respond to emergency dispatch calls within set timeframes Administrative or Campus Living buildings.
• Complies with all job-specific safety requirements and procedures identified in job-specific hazard assessments (required training, PPE use, standard operating procedures, etc.). Proactively participates in accident prevention efforts and responds to injuries and accidents promptly to modify activities and prevent further accidents.

Job Description

Under the general direction of the Custodial Operations Manager, the Custodial Facilities & Maintenance Coordinator, Intermediate is a member of the Facility Services Custodial Management Team. This position assists in the creation and/or maintenance and coordination of one or more programs/processes designed to meet specific goals within the Facility Services Custodial Department. Distinguishing characteristics of this position include; follows standard principles and guidelines with some latitude for personal decision making (any personal decision making is expected to utilize existing standards and procedures); demonstrates intermediate knowledge of concepts, processes, and practices; diagnoses causes of problems; proposes potential solutions with the goals of the unit; applies broad knowledge of concepts and procedures to perform moderately complex tasks.

This position will assist and advise the Assistant Director of Facilities and Maintenance in fulfilling the Facility Services' mission to Northern Arizona University by practicing sustainable maintenance and operations methods, ensuring clean, healthy and safe living and working environments, providing excellent customer service to the campus community, adopting industry best practices, following policies and procedures, and empowering the custodial workforce.

The successful candidate will be required to work 4am till 1pm - Monday through Friday.

Planning, Scheduling and Process - 50%

• Demonstrates dedication to the development of sustainable operations and maintenance practices.
• Participates in establishing and scheduling major custodial projects.
• Inspects buildings, rooms, storage space, hallways, fixtures, and custodial equipment to observe the results of work.
• Manages and tracks key tasks and workloads across the unit/department.
• Assists in the development of program content or processes; monitors metrics and performance; maintains operation of the assigned program or process.
• Contributes to the development of program/process policies and standards; upholds these policies and standards with fellow employees, customers, or other stakeholders.
• If applicable, ensures program/process compliance with all applicable university, state, federal, or other laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines
• Delivers presentations to communicate information about the program(s)/process(es).
• Trains and advises others on program/process guidelines and details.
• Gathers, researches, summarizes, and analyzes information regarding program/process; calculates statistics and compiles data to prepare special and/or recurring reports.
• May schedule and participate in meetings or committees on behalf of the program(s).
• Minor maintenance and repair of custodial equipment.
• Oversees recycle program
• Organizes and collects custodial physical space information.
• Gathers building information and organizes the data for department use.

Recordkeeping - 30%

• Manages and maintains records of program/process data, which may include inputting or updating data in a database.
• Collects and maintains records on buildings, maps and maintenance activities
• Collects, manages and maintains records of program/process data, which may include inputting or updating data in a database.
• Organizes custodial information including custodial procedures and operation manuals.
• Collects square footage data to help determine cleanable square footage and work loading.
• Initiates work orders for repair/maintenance. Reports malfunctions of bathroom fixtures, light fixtures and/or damages to room and hall furnishings.
• Completes annual inventory.

Team Support Responsibilities - 10%

• Participates in planning, coordinating, and prioritizing staffing of work activities for the custodial work force.
• Monitors the inspection of buildings and facilities to ensure all standards are being met.
• Delivery of supplies and equipment.
• Attends custodial management meetings.
• May supervise student or temporary employees.
• Fills in when needed on a short-term basis for Custodial Managers
• Can lead custodial staff on cleaning operations and special projects.

Other - 10%

• May shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, and entryways as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Degree
• 2-4 years of relevant experience
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

• Knowledge of rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures related to program area.
• Knowledge of budgeting and account reconciliation principles.
• Knowledge of organizational practices and principles.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques, and safety standards applicable to the position.

Driving Requirement

Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver's license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Salary

Salary range begins at $45,647. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.

FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
