This position is in our high-volume Neuroscience Institute where 19 providers with 8 specialties provide the most advanced care for conditions impacting the brain. Our expert neurologists are improving care and research for many conditions including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and brain injury. Our skilled neurosurgeons provide cutting edge therapies for complex conditions such as brain aneurysms, epilepsy, spinal disorders and many other conditions.
As a Neuro Sonographer you will perform TCD, Carotid Ultrasounds and bubble studies while working in a family environment with weekends and major holidays off.
**This position is full time Monday - Friday from 8:30am-5pm.**

POSITION SUMMARY
This position, acting as a specialized ultrasound technologist, aids in the diagnosis and treatment of neurovascular conditions in patients, playing a central role in detecting issues related to the nervous system, including the brain and spinal column to support physicians as they diagnose medical conditions.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures. Administers Neurology Clinic neurosonographic services, ensuring quality of performance. Accountable for the oversight and application of scanning protocols and quality measures.
2. Educates patients/families regarding TCD procedures to be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior and conduct in all interactions. Fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes.
3. Performs high quality images and presents them for timely interpretation, ensuring accurate documentation. Performs exams and imaging duties by providing preliminary clinical findings to the supervising physicians. Also provides valuable and timely preliminary findings to the Neurologists and Neurosurgeons.
4. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel and visitors. Adheres to all safety policies.
5. Accountable for the ethical, legal, professional and certification responsibilities related to the practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.
6. Assures the efficient operation of workflow in the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services. Performs high level disinfecting in accordance with manufacturers and regulatory policies and procedures.
7. Functions as the clinical and technical expert in Neurosonography for the Neurology department. May act as a clinical resource to staff and students, as well as train new staff and students in sonographic techniques, with focus on the Neurological Imaging. May provide Neurovascular-related education to Banner Health staff and cardiac sonography students. May assess student competency and provide feedback to department leadership.
8. Ensures neurosonography functions are within compliance of professional scope of practice, accreditation and regulatory standards, Joint Commission and Title 22.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an approved ultrasonography program. Must be a nationally Registered Vascular Technologist with experience in Neurovascular Sonography.
Active and current Neurovascular Sonographer certification (NVS) by the American Society of Neuroimaging is required.
Must have two years of experience working in Neurovascular Sonography.
Knowledge of Neurovascular anatomy and physiology is required.
Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
