IN THIS POSITION YOU WILL:
• Provide high-quality customer service and reader’s advisory for children, caregivers, and educators, with special attention to the needs and interests of tweens (ages 9–12). Connect patrons with appropriate materials, resources, and technologies to support literacy and learning.
• Assist in designing, implementing, and evaluating engaging programs, activities, and events tailored to the tween age group, while also supporting broader children’s and family programs. Foster a welcoming environment that inspires curiosity, exploration, and participation.
• Assists in promoting library programs through engaging and timely social media content, in alignment with the Town’s communication policies. Assists in creating visually appealing displays that showcase library collections, programs, and seasonal themes.
• Provide support at public service desks, handle questions, concerns, and challenges with empathy and professionalism. Resolve escalated service issues or refer to higher-level staff as appropriate.
• Assist with planning, organizing, and executing special projects and strategic initiatives that enhance library service delivery. Participate in cross-departmental activities and foster collaborative team relationships.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a public library. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.
